"The Red Awning"
Watercolour on Arches Paper 15” x 22”
Original: Sold
Creating the illusion of textures always fascinates me. The folds of the fabric of the red awning, the soft complementary green foliage, as well as the varied colours and shapes of the bricks, are what inspired me to paint this image. The simple small colourful geometric shapes inside the doorway give some hint as to the contents inside the shop.

"Bijou d’Albi"
Acrylic on Canvas 36” x 48”
Original: Sold
This beautiful masterpiece of Southern Gothic architecture, Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, is located in Albi, France. I took my painting group on a one-day excursion to this culturally rich city in 2004, during our weeklong workshop in Soréze.
What inspired me to paint this large canvas, 36”x48”, were the rich carved details and textures, and the dramatic play of light and shadow on the façade of this monumental structure.
It took me one year to complete this project.
"Light In Times of Darkness"
Watercolour & Acrylic on Arches Paper 22” x 30”
Original: Sold
Ground Zero, October 2001. The title of this painting reminds me of the resilience of the human spirit, even in times of darkness. The citizens of NYC have proven that they could “rise out of their ashes” and find new light, hope, and a future.

"Musée d’Albi"
Acrylic on Canvas 36" x 48"
This magnificent building, which houses over 600 of Toulouse Lautrec’s artworks, is located in the historical “city of art”, Albi, France. I visited this beautiful city and museum while teaching an art workshop in Sorèze.

"Market Day at Sarlat, France"
Watercolour & Acrylic on Arches Paper 20" x 30"
Original: Sold
This market is located in the medieval city of Sarlat, situated in the Dordonne region of France.

"Evening at Honfleur"
Watercolour on Arches Paper 21" x 29"
Original: Sold
This picturesque street scene is located in Normandy, in the charming coastal village of Honfleur, France.
Dating back to medieval times, Honfleur has long been a magnet for artists, including Claude Monet.
I visited this quaint fishing port while teaching a painting workshop in that region of France.
The interaction between the glowing artificial light and the subtle early evening natural light was of special interest to me.
"Gastown Minute"
Acrylic on Canvas 30" x 40"
Gastown, located in Vancouver, is one of the city’s oldest treasures. It was born in 1867, Canada’s birthday, when Captain John (“Gassy Jack” – loved to talk!) Deighton built a saloon in that location for the local millworkers. The famous steam clock is a focal point of interest in this colourful cosmopolitan area of the city. The painting won 3rd prize in May 2010 at the ‘Canvas Unbound’ exhibition of the Federation of Canadian Artists

"Gastown Stroll"
Acrylic on Canvas 30" x 40"
Gastown, located in Vancouver, is one of the city’s oldest treasures. It was born in 1867, Canada’s birthday, when Captain John (“Gassy Jack”) Deighton built a saloon in that location for the local millworkers. After many “ups and downs”, Gastown today is a national treasure. The streets are alive with people who occupy the shops, residences, offices, restaurants, and nightclubs.

"San Juan Antiquity"
Watermedia on Arches Paper 21" x 29"
I love the surface textures of this old fort, El Morro, located in San Juan, “The Walled City”, Puerto Rico. The patch of daylight in one of the openings gives relief to the network of dark and ominous tunnels.

"Afternoon at Sorèze"
Watermedia on Arches Paper 21" x 30"
Original: Sold
What drew me to this image were the brilliant red roses, the strong value contrasts between the white window sill and the darker shadows, and the simple design. This quaint subject was located just across the lane from lodgings in Sorèze, France.

"Day at Gastown"
Acrylic on Canvas 30" x 40"
Gastown, located in the heart of Vancouver, is one of the city’s oldest treasures. It was born in 1867, Canada’s birthday, when Captain John (“Gassy Jack” – loved to talk!)
