"Sweet Memories", received the Curry’s Da Vinci Watercolour Award at the Open Water 2010 Exhibition of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. Aird Gallery, Toronto, October 2010.
"Gastown Minute", acrylic on canvas, won 3rd prize in May, 2010 at the Federation of Canadian Artists exhibition, ‘Canvas Unbound’. The painting was featured in Art Avenue, the July/August 2010 publication of the FCA.
"Trumpet Waltz", received ‘Juror’s Award of Merit’ at the Northwest Watercolor Society’s Waterworks 2008 Exhibition. New Dimensions Gallery, Bellevue, WA October 28 - December 5, 2008.
The Juror, Betsy Dillard Stroud, is a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society (Dolphin Fellow), the National Watercolor Society, Rocky Mountain Watermedia Honor Society, Southwestern Watercolor Society, and the Arizona Watercolor Society.
Three of Gerry’s paintings are featured in the Best of Worldwide Landscape1 book. Her "San Juan Antiquity #3" is also one of 4 paintings featured on the back cover of the publication.
The University of the Fraser Valley featured Gerry in their Spring, 2010 alumni magazine, Aluminations. Her painting,"Green Guardian" was featured in the article. www.ufv.ca/Aluminations/Thompson.htm
On March 6, 2011 the Federation of Canadian Artists Board of Governors granted Gerry senior signature status, SFCA, at their annual meeting.
In December, 2008 she was awarded Signature Status with the Northwest Watercolor Society,, Bellevue, WA. Diploma – "With all the rights and honors pertaining thereto in token of extraordinary achievement in the field of visual art".

After completing two terms as 'Director for BC and the North' of the CSPWC, Gerry's last task was to organize 'Western Streams', an exhibition of original watercolour paintings by select BC members of the CSPWC. The show was sponsored by 'The Friends of Leigh Square Society' and the CSPWC, in celebration of the CSPWC's 85th Anniversary. It was held at the Leigh Square Community Arts Village in Port Coquitlam, March 26 to April 25, 2010. Mayor Greg Moore, officially opened the ceremonies on Saturday, March 27.

Robert Genn, Alan Wylie, and Gerry Thompson juried the entries for Open Water, the 84th Anniversary Exhibition of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour. The show was held at the Leighton Art Centre in Calgary, Alberta from September 5 to October 24, 2009. Her painting, "Trumpet Waltz" was displayed in this exhibition.
