"Grecian Lady"
Mixed Media on Arches Paper 11" x 25"
I had fun painting this one - started out with watercolour washes and ended up throwing all kinds of acrylic metallic paints into the background, giving it a lot of texture and shine.

"Nostalgic Reflections"
Watercolour & Acrylic on Arches Paper 17" x 30"
One of my favourite lectures and demos is on how to paint the texture of glassware.
The importance of observing fragmented abstract shapes, the use of both hard and soft edges, and the contrast of values (darks and lights) all aid in making the glass look "real".
"Hung Out to Dry"
Watercolour & Acrylic on Arches Paper 14" x 21"
Corn tied to a pole by our host inside our lodgings in Peratallada, Spain.

"In the Lobby #2"

"Crimson Light"
Acrylic on Canvas 16" x 20"
These goblets caught my eye while browsing through a shop. The bright sunlight streaming through the window caused the fragmented shapes in the glasses to sparkle.

"French Vanilla"
Watercolour 22" x 30"
Original: Unframed NFS
From my visit to an outdoor market in Revel, France. The beautiful reflected light and the subtle cast shadows on the delicate fabrics caught my attention. The painting received the Doris McCarthy (1st Place) Award at the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour Water Works Exhibition, which was held in June, 2011 at the Marianne van Silfhout Gallery in Brockville, Ontario. "For outstanding achievement of an Elected Member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour".

"Milestone"
Watercolour 21" x 29"
One of life's milestones. Some have higher numbers than others. Few reach golden.
